Thought we couldn't get better TV than The Chase? Well, how about taking three of the most iconic Chasers and sending them out on a road trip together?!

That's what we're getting on Thursday, as Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace embark on The Chaser's Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles - a brand new TV adventure like no other.

The three-part series, coming to ITV, follows the brain-boxes as they test their knowledge in the real world, asking 'Are we really as smart as we think?'

In order to answer this question, the trio are set to travel the world and test their knowledge against on child geniuses, AI robots and even great apes, to see how they fare.

The show will not only give the viewers a chance to see a rather different side of the Chasers, but also leave us with some questions to ponder, such as if we underestimate animal intelligence.

In America, the Chasers will measure their intelligence against Kanzi, a Bonobo ape who is so smart it can understand English, and communicate with humans by using images and symbols on a Lexigram.

Plus, they also meet a chimpanzee with super memory, as well as a 25 year old orangutan called Katie, who is a gaming whizz, and a dolphin - tipped as the most intelligent animal in the ocean.

The first show has a serious moral at it's heart, namely whether we'd treat animals differently if we truly understood them, and how smart they really are.

Teasing the rest of the season, ITV add: "Travelling the UK, they go head-to-head with child geniuses in order to weigh up to what degree intelligence is innate or can be developed.

"But, while some of the UK's brightest kids impress Anne, Mark and Shaun, they are shocked to learn that they themselves have something surprising in common, which could unlock the mystery to the trio's amazing memories.

"And finally, in Japan, our quiz masters encounter some of the world's cleverest computers and the very latest in artificial intelligence in an attempt to find out if we humans are heading for a utopian future...or are destined to be taken over by robots."

The Chasers' Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles will air weekly on Thursday nights on ITV from 21st January at 9pm.
