The Chase players broke records on Monday when the team of four won £100,000, which is the highest amount ever won on daytime TV.

Diane, Luca, Tim and Gayna managed to take home £25,000 each after beating Chaser Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty on the daytime quiz show.

Anne ran out of time in the final chase with 14 steps still to go, after the team won 21 steps on the board and managed to push the chaser back nine times.

The amazing amount shared by the contestants wouldn't have been possible without Diane taking the higher offer of £86,000 during her face off with the Chaser.

The other contestants stuck with their 'cash builder' amounts of £7,000, £3,000 and £4,000.

After the win, Gayna revealed she was going to treat herself to a 'wing walk' experience, Diane said she would take her family on holiday, and Tim revealed he would be buying a motor home.

However, medical student Luca had an even better way to spend his £25,000 - he is planning to buy two takeaways a week until graduating, including one from The Ritz.

Chaser Anne seemed to be happy for the team, and after conceding defeat, she said: "I hope The Ritz does do takeaways because you deserve it - you all do. Very, very well played.

"I didn't expect to win that one to be honest. Very good indeed."

Host Bradley Walsh said: "What a show! I'm thrilled for the team.

"They go home with £25k each. It just shows you, it can be done!"

Viewers also took to Twitter to congratulate the team, branding the episode 'the best they have ever seen'.

The team did a lot better than this contestant who took the £2 offer, while up against Mark 'The Beast' Labbett.

After accumulating £2,000 in the cash builder round, Shane got on the wrong side of viewers when he successfully took the £2 offer.

Yet he somehow managed to smugly walk away with an impressive £2,334 at the end of the programme, following the team's victory in the final chase.
