The Star-Studded Cast For The ‘Dark Crystal’ Reboot Has Been Announced
Now the streaming giant has released the full list of actors and actresses who are signed up to the prequel of the Jim Henson flick and it's safe to assume that this will be one of the biggest shows of the year.
Sigourney Weaver, Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey, Avengers: Endgame actor Benedict Wong, Crazy Rich Asians breakout Awkwafina, Ant-Man and The Wasp's Hannah John-Kamen and original Dark Crystal star Dave Goelz have all joined the cast, which is already led by Rocketman star Taron Egerton and The Witch actress Anya Taylor-Joy.
Need a quick re-cap of the other stars lending their voices to the show? Nathalie Emmanuel, Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong and Alicia Vikander will all feature in the prequel. And breathe.
While Age of Resistance, which will be made up of 10, one hour-long episodes, will feature some of the same characters as the original and is set in the world of Thra, it tells a whole new story set many years before the events of the movie where three Gelfing will discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis' power and embark on a journey to save their world.
"The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to the world of Thra with an all new adventure," says the Netflix synopsis. "When three Gelfing discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis' power, they set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world."
It continues: "Based on The Dark Crystal, Jim Henson's ground-breaking 1982 feature film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance tells a new epic story, set many years before the events of the movie, and realized using classic puppetry with cutting edge visual effects. The world of Thra is dying."
Roll on August 30th!
