The trailer for the latest movie in the Saw franchise has just dropped - and it looks terrifying.
The short clip from upcoming horror flick Spiral: From The Book Of Saw shows two detectives, Zeke Banks (Chris Rock) and William Schenk (Max Minghella), driving along in a car as they receive a call over the radio, informing them that an officer is "down".

Suddenly, things take a dark turn as we the charred remains of a body being discovered on an underground train track and a grisly contraption on a man - reminiscent of what the terrifying Jigsaw character used in previous Saw movies.
We see his signature spiral motif sprayed onto a car, the sound of flies buzzing and a detective opening a strange box at work (we've seen that trick before, so we dread to think what is inside).
And if you were thinking the cops were going to be targeted, you'd be right, because the final scene of the trailer shows Chris Rock chained to a wall, with nothing but a saw to save him.

It has all the hallmarks of the classic Saw and Jigsaw movies - of which there have been eight in total - the last landing back in 2017.
And despite landing on 15th May, everyone is still a little confused as to what the film is.
Comedian Chris Rock, who stars but is also behind the script, has confirmed that it is not a re-make, taking to Twitter to explain that it's not a reboot and it is simply of the same 'universe' of Saw - meaning none of the previous films are redundant.
Yet, nobody has confirmed it is a direct sequel.
It's left us wondering if the mysterious Spiral character is a copycat killer of Jigsaw. Could he also be a dying man who wants to teach those he feels are undeserving of life a lesson? Or is he a family member or a follower?

In the last instalment of Saw called Jigsaw (2017), Logan Nelson who was a victim of Jigsaw (John Kramer) earlier on in the franchise and is the only survivor of his, starts doing some 'testing' of his own. So whilst a copycat is a theory, it would perhaps be a little dull to emulate that line.
Perhaps he's simply just another sick twisted person who likes to play games with people?
What we do know is, this film follows "an investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past," according to Lionsgate.

"Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer's morbid game".
Even if you couldn't keep up with Saw after the first few films, with Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson starring, perhaps this ninth instalment of the franchise will bring us back to the ingenuity of the initial films.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group's (who are distributing the film) chairman Joe Drake said: "When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all-in".

Adding: "This upcoming film will still be as mind-bending and intense as all the previous Saw films. Chris conceived this idea, and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision and passion for this classic horror franchise."
