The latest celeb to leave the I'm A Celebrity jungle, Rita Simons, has revealed that she was given medical treatment away from the cameras on her last night.

Rita, who was voted out of the camp by the public on Tuesday, told Holly and Dec during her exit interview that she had a hypoglycemic incident the night before and had to receive treatment away from the camp.

The former Eastenders star explained that she had low blood sugar levels after surviving off the basic camp rations for the past two and a half weeks.

Rita said: "I had a mini hypoglycemic incident last night so for two days I have wondered why I was not right.

"I had low blood sugar levels and they took me out to the medic hut. They were great. I feel better"

The NHS website explains that to treat hypoglycemia you should have a sugary drink or snack, test your blood sugar after 10 to 15 minutes or eat your main meal (containing carbohydrate), all of which are more or less impossible in the celebrity jungle.

Due to being taken ill Rita was unable to take part in the challenge to win letters from home. (

Symptoms can include dizziness, feeling hungry, being easily irritated, tearful, or moody, feeling shaky and a pounding heartbeat.

Rita was the fourth celeb to be voted out of the jungle and she told Holly and Dec she was very happy to be out.

She said: "I feel like I could've done more challenges, more trials, I feel like I'm glad I did the bugs one, because I think you haven't done the jungle properly if you haven't been covered in bugs.

"It was so much harder than I ever through it would be, it's bloody hard and the thing that killed me the most was the boredom there's a lot of times when the guys gone out to do trials, and I am no good at sitting around."

However, she did admit the show helped her to face her fear of water, as she took on the Drown And Out trial.

Rita added: "I had an incident in the water filming a few years back, and something happened and I've got this stupid phobia, but actually doing a challenge when water's coming up is a huge thing for me."

I'm A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
