Netflix has released its newest sex-filled comedy, Sex Education, and fans have fallen in love with just how diverse the programme is.

The Gillian Anderson-fronted series, created by Laurie Nunn, tells the story of Otis Milburn as he hilariously makes his way through the minefield that is teenage sexuality.

The series, which is eight episodes long, also stars Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, and Kedar Williams-Stirling.

Here's the synopsis from Netflix: "Meet Otis Milburn - an inexperienced, socially awkward high school student who lives with his mother, a sex therapist. Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject.

"When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status. He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and together they set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their fellow students' weird and wonderful problems.

"Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realises he may need some therapy of his own."

And fans have praised the show for featuring a diverse cast and storylines.

"Netflix's #SexEducation is the most diverse show on TV without overtly reaching to seem diverse," Anthony Cherry said. "This show just gets it right. The funny thing is, they aren't even trying. They're just telling stories. I love it!!"

Valerie Starks added: "Binge-watched Sex Education on Netflix. This show is brilliant! A sex-positive, British-American fusion of a dramedy that pays homage to the 80s teen rom coms, with MAJOR updates to the culture regarding consent, LGBTQ+ inclusivity, and diversity.

"The characters - even many of the background characters - are well-developed, the concept is original, and it has the range to have you gut-laughing and soul-crying in the same episode. LOVE IT, and am soooo looking forward to season 2."

Meanwhile, Moraima Capellán Pichardo added: "Binge-watched Sex Education on Netflix today. Worth it. What a fun and genuine show, and smart af too. This is how you do 'diversity' on screen."

And Aubrey Beatrice screamed: "STREAM SEX EDUCATION ON NETFLIX Y'ALL the diversity!!!!! the representation!!!! the female empowerment!!!! asa butterfield!!!!!! HAHAHA okay seriously tho it's good n refreshing hehe".
