Brand New Trailer Drops For 'Peaky Blinders' Season Five Ahead Of Its Release On Sunday

Peaky Blinders fans, brace yourselves: BBC have just released a teaser clip from series five, And oh wow.

The scene shown is typical of what we've come to expect from the gangster drama: Tommy Shelby finding himself in a bit of a pickle.

In the three and a half minute clip, we see the Peaky leader (played by Cillian Murphy) heading out on to mud-trudged crop fields in the grounds of his estate, wielding a gun as he heads in the direction of a scarecrow which appears pinned to a crucifix.

Taking a note from the scarecrow which reads 'Look down on earth and see the seeds you have sown', Tommy realises he's stumbled upon a warning. (Hard core fans will be reminded of Luca Changretta's black hand that the family received in the first episode of season four).

A cautious Tommy looks down to spot some sort of detonator, and a ticking clock attached to the scarecrow. Treading carefully, Tommy wrestles with the idea of setting off the explosive and ending it all - or so it appears - when he is stopped in his tracks by the sound of his son calling his name.

It's not clear which new enemy of the Shelby clan is sending the warning, but we know series five will see Tommy face tough opposition by Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Union of Fascists (played by Sam Claflin).

The clip is taken from the new series of the drama, with episode one hitting our screens this Sunday 25th August at 9pm on BBC One, and episode two the following night.

The official series five synopsis reads: "Series five of Steven Knight's crime family saga finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929.

"Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere. When Tommy Shelby MP is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family's future but that of the entire nation."

The new season will see Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Kate Phillips and Natasha O'Keefe all reprise their roles in the new series, with new talent such as Hunger Games star Sam Claflin, Hollyoaks actor Emmett J Scanlan, and The Handmaid's Tale's Anya Taylor-Joy joining the cast, among many others.

At the end of July, BBC revealed the latest trailer for the upcoming series and just last week, the show teased a bunch of new photos, which show new and old characters don their 1920s gear.
