Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds star Ken Pidcock, spoke on last night's episode about how the show has helped him find happiness again, after the death of his wife five years ago.

He explained that following her death, he turned into a hermit and didn't leave Larkhill Retirement Village for two years.

However, he has found happiness again after meeting four-year-old Lily on the Channel 4 show, who has helped pull him out of his shell.

Ken said: "I've had a wonderful life. My wife was called Barbra. We met at a dance, I was 13 and she was 14. That was the start of our love affair. We had a very happy marriage. We never did anything apart.

"When she passed away, I literally became a Hermit.

Lily also says that she counts Ken as one of her best friends, and he was invited to her house for a special birthday tea.

During the birthday tea, Ken met Lily's parents, Alex and Emma, who told him just how much he means to Lily.

They said that Lily talks non-stop about him and has 'demoted' her father from story-telling duties.

Alex said: "I've been demoted from being a top story teller, because Ken is a top story teller."

In a heart-warming moment, Ken told Emma and Alex how proud it makes him to know he has had such an impact.

Seeing their blossoming friendship, Emma said: "It's just so nice to see that they are so natural, they are real buddies.

"Now she is bumping her actual best friend down the pecking list and he is shooting up makes us think this is something really special.

"Ken said when he lost his wife he just retracted into himself and Lily has helped him come out of that shell, it's great."

Ken also discovered a new friend in neighbour Fred, 84, the pair had never met before the show started, despite only living a few doors away from each other.

The pair had started hanging out with one another, spending a large part of their day looking after a load of chickens, with their bromance forming in the hen house.

Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds airs at 9pm on Mondays on Channel 4.
