The new John Lewis advert, created to mark the department store's major rebrand, will have you sobbing into your sofa.

The two minute and 30 second long ad, which first aired during Great British Bake Off on Tuesday, took five days to film, and stars 82 schoolchildren and 11 adults.

Centering on a school play, the kids put on an incredibly magnificent performance to Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' as their parents watch on from the audience.

The advert is celebrating a huge rebrand for The John Lewis Partnership in a bid to help sales.

The company's two brands, John Lewis and Waitrose, now have brand new names and logos - the rebrand will see the department store become John Lewis & Partners, and the supermarket will be called Waitrose & Partners.

These changes will roll out across the country over the next five years, although you can have a sneak peek at the branding online and at the John Lewis flagship store on Oxford Street, London, and at Waitrose supermarkets in Edgware Road and Clerkenwell.

Viewers flocked to Twitter as the partnership's new advert aired earlier this week, and some thought that Christmas had come early.

"I think the John Lewis/Waitrose advert might be the best advert I ever did see. Dare I even say it...maybe even better than the crimbo one," exclaimed one person.

While another person joked: "Well the #JohnLewis ad was awesome. But I think the time I played the glow worm in our primary school version of James and the giant peach was better."

"OMG that John Lewis advert is AWESOME!!!" declared somebody else.

Not everyone heaped on the praise though, as some people were a little confused by the ad.

"Wtf is that advert all about?!" questioned on person.

Another echoed: "I think John Lewis has lost the point of what at advert is for. Where are the products?"
