A new CBeebies programme described as 'haunting' has been giving parents nightmares as some describe it as worse than most horror films.

Moon And Me first launched in January and it follows a doll and her friends who come to life when the moon comes out... but only if her owner is asleep.

The CBeebies website says "join Pepi Nana, Moon Baby and all their comical Toy House friends as they go on a magical adventure in a land of story."

While it sounds like harmless children's television, petrified parents have taken to Reddit to blast the 'terrifying' show.

"When something is THIS disturbing for adults and still appealing to children it makes me feel like they know exactly what they're doing and just seeing how far they can push it at this point," one parent wrote.

Another added: "The clown has definitely crawled out of the void on the search for souls."

Another added: "The clown has definitely crawled out of the void on the search for souls."

A third joked: "The clown? He's called Colly Wobble. Pretty sure his side job is harvesting organs."

"They way they move as well. It's not even a joke," a fourth commented.

The programme, created for pre-school aged children, is made by Andrew Davenport, who also created kids classics like Teletubbies and In The Night Garden.

Parents might be sleeping with one eye open, but it seems like children are loving it.

"My kids disagree and find it hilarious and adorable," one parent commented.

Andrew even revealed on BBC Breakfast how he managed to get Michael Buble involved in the show.

"I was amazed to see Michael Bublé sing the Igglepiggle song from In the Night Garden in a TV interview, so cheekily asked if he would like to perform a song in Moon and Me," he explained.

"I was bowled over when Michael said yes to the 'Horsey in the House' song, and had to pick myself up off the floor when I heard Michael's performance for the first time.

"Michael has taken songs for preschoolers to a whole new level. We are honoured and beyond thrilled to have somebody of Michael's unique global status and talent, singing for our very special audience, and are sure that children and grown-ups alike will love the song as much as us."
