Netflix Show 'Ginny and Georgia' Is Being Hailed As The New 'Gilmore Girls'

Netflix Show 'Ginny and Georgia' Is Being Hailed As The New 'Gilmore Girls'

If you were a massive fan of Gilmore Girls but have a Stars Hollow-shaped hole in your heart since it ended then new Netflix series Ginny & Georgia is for you.

The show centres around a young single mother, 30, and her 15-year-old daughter as they begin a new life in a quaint New England town.

The object of Georgia Miller's affections runs the local café while teen Ginny struggles to settle into her prestigious Massachusetts high school and deal with complicated love interests - we told you it sounded like Gilmore Girls.

And unlike Lorelai, Georgia is a self-made woman, who grew up in poverty and is determined to give her children a different life then she had.

The hour-long episodes will explore deeper themes such as race and class - which is much edgier than Gilmore Girls ever was.

Announcing the news on See What's Next Twitter, the account shared: "Ginny & Georgia is a new mother/daughter coming of age series starring Antonia Gentry as 15-year-old Ginny & @Brianne_Howey as her 30-year-old mother Georgia, who try to put down roots in a picturesque town after years on the run.

"#Alias alum @DebraJFisher serves as showrunner".

And people are already having strong reactions to the show with one fan commenting underneath the post: "soooo gilmore girls but with a twist?"

"Sounds like Gilmore girls but edgier," another penned.

A third shared: "Thanks I'll stick to Gilmore Girls instead of this rip-off."

Gilmore Girls ran from 2000 to 2007 and later returned in 2016 for four-part miniseries revival titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Ginny & Georgia is set to debut in 2020. The series will see newcomer Antonia Gentry play Ginny and Scream Queens star Brianne Howey as Georgia.

We're looking forward to adding this to our must-watch list.
