Sex gurus Otis and Maeve are back to offer up more Sex Education to the teens of Moordale High, as filming for season two is officially underway, Netflix reveals.

The streaming service confirmed the news with a tweet, which read: "Ok it's official, Sex Education s2 filming has started. here's to more w*nking and more heartwarming moments in equal measure."

And who doesn't love more w*nking and heartwarming moments? They go hand in hand, of course.

After season one of the coming-of-age series was such a runaway success, with at least 40 million households viewing it within four weeks of it being released, it was always a no brainer that a second season would be on its way. And just a few short months later, here we are.

The show also stars Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Connor Swindells, and Kedar Williams-Stirling. Netflix has announced that the main cast will all return for season two.

Sex Education won praise from fans and critics alike for taking a no-holds-barred approach to important subject matter that is often not discussed, such as sexuality, relationships, and identity.

Oh, and it got a 90 per cent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which isn't too shabby by anyone's standards.

Speaking about the show's renewal a while back, the show's creator, Laurie Nunn, said: "The reception to series one has been so exciting. Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible.

"I'm hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series, and I can't wait to continue this amazing journey."

Netflix's Vice President of Original Content, Cindy Holland, added: "Laurie Nunn has captured the awkward teenage experience with a lot of heart and humour in Sex Education.

"Along with the Eleven team and executive producer and director Ben Taylor, she's created a universally relatable series that has resonated with our members around the world."

The new series will consist of eight episodes, and at the race it's pacing on, hopefully it shouldn't be too long before Otis and the gang are back on our screens.
