If you used to spend most Saturdays chilling in WH Smith lusting over this iconic nineties literary series (guilty) then you're about to lose you're sh*t - it's just been confirmed on Twitter that The Baby-Sitters Club is being turned into a Netflix series and we're freaking out.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the streaming service have signed to produce a "contemporary" version of the tale, which centres around a group of badass teenage girls who set up their own babysitting service.

The live-action dramedy is based on the best-selling Ann M. Martin book series and has the author on board to produce alongside
The Social Network's Michael De Luca.
The series will tackle issues such as divorce, racism and finding your place in the world in a series geared towards families. The franchise was hailed by The New Yorker in a 2016 essay as a "feminist legacy."
"The themes of The Baby-Sitters Club still resonate 30 years after the original book series was released, and there has never been a more opportune time to tell an aspirational story about empowering young female entrepreneurs," said Melissa Cobb, VP of kids and family content at Netflix. "Together with Ann M. Martin and the team at Walden Media, our ambition is to contemporize [sic] the storylines and adventures of this iconic group of girlfriends to reflect modern-day issues."

For anyone not familiar with the book series. It's time for an education: Kristy, Stacey, Mary Anne, Claudia and Dawn go through all the usual growing pains of being teens while trying to turn their start-up babysitting business into a roaring success (don't pretend you don't relate).
So far, there's been no casting news and or expected release date (so it's not going to drop anytime soon) but it's been reported that the first series of the adaption will have ten 30-minute episodes.
