There are a few things in life that really remind us of our age: an old film reference that no one gets, our favourite songs that are labelled 'classics', the fact that people born in 2002 are old enough to drink - and Love Island.
Each year, the dating show's contestants are inexplicably young, making us feel oh-so old, but things reached a pinnacle in last night's episode when a contestant branded another who was 28 as "old".
After the coupling, Amber Gill and Callum Macleod stepped aside for a get-to-know-each-other chat. After the beauty therapist told the aircraft engineer she was 21, Callum revealed he was 28, to which Amber retorted: "Ah, so you are old then."

Erm, what.
When Callum laughed off 28 as "old", Amber backtracked by saying: "Older than me."
But there was no saving her, as the people of Twitter took to the platform to express their disbelief at Amber thinking 28 was old. Memes flew around, but many were just p*ssed at her reaction, with some even calling her "ageist".

One viewer said what we were all thinking: "But 28 isn't even old tho. Shut up Amber!"
Another said: "Bloody hell his 28 not 58 [sic]."

Other correctly pointed out that Callum would still only be born in 1990 to make him 28. That's right, 90s babies are now "old," folks.
One viewer said: "Not feeling amber, she's a bit vapid. I'm bias but 28 isn't old lol #1990."
But it didn't stop there. Amber continued digging herself a hole when Callum said: "I look young though, don't I?"
Amber said "no", and then agreed that he looked his age and had wrinkles.

"Imagine if the bloke said to Amber 'yeh 28 is old. You've got wrinkles as well'. He'd be getting so much abuse right now, but because it's the girl that said it it's fine," one viewer interestingly said.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
