Lorena, the new docuseries about the Lorena Bobbitt case, is the craziest crime story you've probably never heard of. It drops on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, 15th February 2018.
Executive-produced by Get Out director Jordan Peele, the crime documentary has four episodes, all of which will be released at once. And, according to IMDB, each of these episodes will be an hour long - that's your Friday night sorted, then.
It tells the story of Lorena Bobbitt and and her husband John Wayne and the accusation that she cut off his penis - yeah, you read that right.

With her husband's bloodied penis still in her hand, she drove 30 miles from their home and threw it out of the window near a convenience store from the window of her car. Later, she called 911 and was arrested that same night on charges of malicious wounding.
John's penis was reattached after the event and he became a porn star.
The documentary will cover the event itself, the court case that followed and the social issues that the story raised.

Lorena highlights how the trial called what constitutes marital abuse into question. Lorena accused Wayne abuse (involving forcing her to have anal sex, making her have an abortion she didn't want and threatening her with deportation to her native Venezuela). This was somewhat lost in the salacious headlines that surrounded the events.
A large part of her defence drew on the idea that she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. She said that, before she cut off his penis, Wayne had raped her. Wayne denied the allegations and was acquitted of the rape. Lorena was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
