Unless you've been living under a rock all weekend you'll know that Lizzie McGuire is officially coming back with Hilary Duff reprising her iconic role.

But things just got a whole lot more exciting as she pretty much just invited pop-star Lizzo to make a cameo.

When the news of the latest Disney+ reboot was announced, Juice singer Lizzo was quick to tweet a link to the announcement and plead: "Lemme get a cameo".

And it took no time at all for Hilary to respond, writing back: "Ummmmm duh! Hired! Animated Lizzie might explode! Saw you in Brooklyn. DEAD."

"It's official #LizzoMcGuire," the 'Truth Hurts' singer wrote back.

Fans have been going wild since the new of Lizzie McGuire's return was first revealed.

The original series, which aired from 2001 to 2004 on Disney channel, showed Hilary's character as a middle-schooler grappling with her teen dramas alongside her best friends Miranda and Gordo.

Meanwhile, the new show, made by original creator Terri Minsky, will follow a grown up Lizzie approaching 30 years old and navigating her life in New York city.

She's an apprentice to a top designer and has a hunky boyfriend - but she'll also still have a 13-year-old animated Lizzie chatting away in her head at all times, naturally.

Speaking at the Disney D23 Expo yesterday, Hilary said: "Just like me and everybody who loved Lizzie and grew up with her, Lizzie also grew up.

"She is older, she is wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is exciting. She has her dream job. She has the perfect life."

Hilary first teased the reboot last year, but this is the first time she'd officially confirmed it.

It's not just the news series fans will have to look forward to, as the new Disney streaming platform will also feature all the old series' of the show, with over 65 episodes to binge watch. It's a 90s kid's dream!

It's not yet been announced when filming starts, or if Lizzo will actually make an appearance, but we're definitely keeping our eyes peeled for this one!

Disney+ officially launches in the US on November 12, and is expected to come to the UK shortly afterwards.
