Another very famous face will be joining the starry line-up of the upcoming series of Peaky Blinders, the BBC has confirmed.

Sam Claflin, best known for his role as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games film series, was actually revealed as a new cast member for season five back in October.

And now fans of the show have been given a first look at Sam in his brand new role in a promo shot for the show over the weekend.

Who Sam, who also starred Philip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean, will be portraying in the beloved gangster drama series hasn't yet been divulged. Whether he will be a friend or foe of the Shelby gang also remains to be seen, but there is guaranteed to be tonnes of action.

What we do know is that the series will pick up in 1929 Birmingham shortly after the stock market crash, and will focus on Tommy as he sets his sights on the British government.

Viewers were teased with a political twist at the edge-of-the-seat season four finale, as Tommy was elected as a Birmingham MP and will take on the fiercest opposition yet - the parliament.

Here's the official season five synopsis: "Series five of Steven Knight's crime family saga finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929.

"Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere. When Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family's future but that of the entire nation."

Cillian returns as gang leader Tommy, along with Helen McCrory as Polly Gray and Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, plus a whole host of other famous faces.

Other new cast additions include The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy, Snow White and the Huntsman's Brian Gleeson, Kill List's Neil Maskell and Game of Throne's Kate Dickie.

Also joining the list are Hollyoaks actor Emmett J Scanlan, Lady Macbeth's Cosmo Jarvis, Andrew Koji, Elliot Cowan, Daryl McCormack and Charlene McKenna.

There's no exact release date yet and filming is still in full swing, although reports suggest we could see the series hit screens in late spring 2019.
