If there's one thing we've learned from Great British Bake Off so far, it's that Rahul is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs.

The 30-year-old won the hearts of the nation when he apologised for his Chelsea buns, before going on to be crowned star baker and dubbed a "little genius" by Paul Hollywood.

Two weeks and a million compliments later, you'd think that Rahul would've found the confidence to stop apologising for his baking.

During last night's spice week, Paul told him: "You, my little friend, are a genius aren't you? Because you surprise me every week."

Paul then congratulated Rahul before adding: "Quite annoying really."

But when Noel joked with Rahul that he had annoyed Paul by being too perfect, the research scientist quickly apologised, just when we thought we couldn't love him anymore.

Great British Bake Off continues on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesdays.
