Great British Bake Off fans accused Rahul of 'lying' during one of the final challenges on Tuesday evening.

Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood tasked the final three bakers with creating delicious doughnuts in the first challenge of the evening, the signature bake.

But as Ruby and Kim-Joy set to it, Rahul seemed a little worried about the challenge, telling the Channel 4 cameras that he'd never eaten a doughnut before in his life.

He told Prue and Paul: "I'm going to do it like a wreath, so I'm going to cover it with buttercream."

But Rahul was then heard saying that he liked doughnuts with 'lots of filling' later on in the challenge, leaving many viewers baffled.

"Also... Rahul said he'd never had a doughnut then said he liked a well filled doughnut... well which one is it?!" exclaimed one person.

And another echoed: "Did anyone else notice that Rahul said that he's never had a doughnut to Paul however then says that he likes a doughnut with a lot of filling... I smell someone's pants on fire!!!"

"Start of the show "I have never tried a doughnut" 10 minutes in "I like a well filled doughnut" Yeah right Rahul!" chimed in a third.

While a final GBBO viewer shared: "So Rahul says he's never eaten a doughnut but then says he likes a doughnut with a lot of filling. Which is it, eh?"

However, others pointed out that Rahul could have meant he never ate a doughnut before the show.

"Now listen up you Rahul naysayers... the boy said he never had a doughnut BEFORE that challenge!! You really think he didn't practice the challenge??" shared one.

Despite not being able to make up his mind about the doughnuts, Rahul kept it cool in the rest of the challenges even when a mason jar exploded in the heat during the showstopper, ruining his bake so far.

Rahul was given an extra 15 minutes by Prue and Paul as he had to start completely again, but ultimately pipped Ruby and Kim-Joy to the post to be crowned winner of GBBO 2018.
