First Look At Netflix Series 'Dark Crystal' Is Evoking Serious Nostalgia

Netflix has shared a first look at forthcoming series Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, which is set to be a prequel to the Jim Henson flick.

The Dark Crystal is a classic 1982 movie, and now the streaming giant's series, which will be set before the film, will arrive on the subscription service's platform on Friday, 30th August.

Netflix has shared six stunning stills taken from its new series, giving fans a glimpse into what it will all look like.

The plot will be different to the original movie, although will feature some of the same characters and is set in the world of Thra.

Three Gelfling will discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis' power, and embark on a journey to save their world.

As per the streaming giant's synopsis: "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to the world of Thra with an all new adventure.

The series will be made up of 10, one hour-long episodes, and features a super starry line-up.

Taran Egerton will be lending his voice to Geling Rian, Anya Taylor-Joy will be Brea, and Nathalie Emmanuel voices Deet.

Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, and Alicia Vikander also feature.

The Skeksis and Mystics are voiced by Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg and Andy Samberg. Meanwhile, Aughra will be voiced by Donna Kimball.
