First Dates Barman Merlin Griffiths Has A Surprising Day Job

Mixing up cocktails for the First Dates hopefuls isn't the only thing Merlin is a dab hand at.

First Dates' Merlin Griffiths is not just the dating show's resident mixologist, as the barman actually has a surprising day job.

Merlin has become a staple on the Channel 4 programme, and he is back on tellies for the 10th series, which premiered on Tuesday night.

The barman is a pro at getting the dates to open up on their romantic history and personal lives, as they nervously wait to see who they've been matched with by the show's love gurus.

But it should come as no surprise that Merlin has the gift of the gab, as he is actually a pub landlord in real life.

According to his Twitter bio, the First Dates waiter, who has been hospitality industry for nearly 20 years, owns his very own pub in Kilburn, north-west London.

The Priory Tavern opened in 2010, and is described as a friendly local 'with a sweeping array of delicious drinks and some scrumptious food'.

Merlin's pub has hundreds of five star reviews on Trip Advisor left by lots of happy customers, so it's definitely worth a try the next time you are in the capital.

The First Dates stalwart co-owns The Priory with his partner Lucille, who he met at a cocktail mixing competition 10 years ago. The couple also share a toddler together too.

Merlin isn't the only First Dates star who has a career outside of the show either, as waitress Laura Tott has a completely different day job to her Channel 4 gig.

Laura works as an ambulance technician, with the waitress revealing the news on her Instagram earlier this year.

Posing for the camera in her green uniform, the First Dates star wrote: "Last night shift before 18 days off. I'm happier than I look I promise!"

But that's not the only career move she made as she joined the Navy in 2015.

She uploaded a snap of her shipmates, writing: "Exactly a year ago today I joined the Royal Navy. I made some of the best and craziest friends. I'm so proud of all of you and I miss you so much."

Laura ended up working in the First Dates restaurant after she was spotted at her old waitressing job.
