This week saw the drop of the first official trailer for Quentin Tarantino's ninth movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

The flick has an ultra starry line-up, including the likes of Margot Robbie, and comes courtesy of a director with cult smash hits like Pulp Fiction already under his belt.

From plot to cast, here's everything you need to know about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

What's the plot?

As the synopsis puts it best: "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore.

"The ninth film from the writer-director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood's golden age."

It's believed that one of those storylines will look at the Manson Family and the murder of Sharon Tate.

"It takes place at the time of the hippie revolution, and it takes place at the height of the new Hollywood," Tarantino said of the movie. "During this summer, we will, little by little, street by street and block by block, be transforming Los Angeles into the psychedelic era in 1969."

Who does it star?

With Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt taking on the lead roles, the cast couldn't get more A-list if it tried.

Leonardo is playing ageing Western movie star, Rick, struggling to place himself in a changing Hollywood. Meanwhile, Brad plays Leonardo's stunt double, Cliff, in the movie. The pair live next door to Margot Robbie's character, Sharon Tate, who was murdered in 1969 by the Manson family.

Sony Pictures

Dakota Fanning plays Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a member of the Manson family. Damian Lewis is Steve McQueen, an actor invited to Sharon Tate's home for a dinner party on the night of the murders.

Sony Pictures

Bruce Dern portrays George Spahn, an 80-year-old almost blind man who Charles Manson convinced to let him and his followers to live on his ranch.

Austin Butler plays Charles "Tex" Watson, a member of the Manson Family, and Emile Hirsch is Jay Sebring, Sharon's friend who was also murdered. Late Riverdale actor Luke Perry will still appear as Wayne Maunder.

Other cast members include Maya Hawke, of Stranger Things fame, playing Flower Child, and Damon Herriman is Charles Manson.

Samantha Robinson portrays Abigail Folger, and Costa Ronin plays Wojciech Frykowski, who were both also murdered at Sharon's home.

Meanwhile, Mike Moh is Bruce Lee.

Sony Pictures

Rumer Willis plays Joanna Pettet, another close friend of Sharon.

Also starring are Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, James Marsden, Keith Jefferson, Clifton Collins Jr, Tim Roth and many more.

Is there a trailer?

The first official trailer was released by Sony Pictures earlier this week on Wednesday.

Leonardo and Margot both shared the one and a half minute-long clip to their Twitter feeds. "Experience a version of 1969 that could only happen #OnceUponATimeInHollywood - the 9th film from Quentin Tarantino," each echoed.

While it doesn't give much away about the plot or genre, Leo, Brad and Margot are seen in their new roles. And one things for sure, Margot looks the spit of Sharon in her mod-themed get up.

When will it be released?

The film is slated for cinema release on 26th July.
