The new Disney film based on Cruella De Vil - the villain from the 1961 classic 101 Dalmations - is the latest addition to a string of Disney's new releases.

After this year, the film will follow in the footsteps of Dumbo, Lion King and Aladdin and will see Emma Stone take centre stage as the hotly hated puppy killer.

The film is due to be released in 2021 and will be set in London in the seventies, 10 years after Disney released the original animation.

But unlike the classic, the film will explore the character's history and will seek to portray her in a far more sympathetic light.

Despite pushing the project back to 2021 (to the irritation of eagerly awaiting fans) a sneak peak of Emma Stone as the cruel villain has been released on Disney's social media accounts.

Unlike the original though, Stone is sporting an all leather ensemble with a matching smokey eye giving her a more modern punk rock look. She is, however, carrying the same quintessential Cruella black and white messy hairdo, true to the 1961 original and is pictured holding three dalmatians on chain leads.

The picture has attracted a number of responses on Twitter, with many voicing their concerns over having a younger Cruella De Vil.

"#GlennClose was perfect! Plus, I always imagined Cruella as an older woman," says one user.

Others however, were more impressed: "Ok well I guess I fancy Emma Stone as Cruella De Vil," says another.

The costume designer, Jenny Beavan, is a two-time Oscar Winner who is professionally linked to Vivienne Westwood; a sign that we should get ready for many more of these dramatic, stylish looks.

Alongside Stone, we should expect to see Emma Thompson, Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser who will similarly be gracing our screens on May 28th 2021.

Needless to say, we cannot wait for this one.
