Disney Shares Character Posters For Upcoming 'Lion King' Remake

Disney Shares Character Posters For Upcoming 'Lion King' Remake

Disney has unveiled posters for all the characters of the Lion King live-action remake, although fans have a lot to say about Seth Rogen's Pumbaa.

The franchise shared the stunning posters of Beyoncé Knowles' grown-up Nala, Donald Glover's Simba and JD McCrary's Simba the lion cub.

There's no denying that the graphics are truly incredible, with some comparing the movie to a nature documentary rather than a Disney flick.

We also get another look at John Kani's Rafiki, Billy Eichner's Timon, John Oliver's Zazu, James Earl Jones' Mufasa and Chiwetel Ejiofor's evil Scar ahead of the remake's release on Wednesday, 19th July.

Disney shared the string of posters to its official Twitter account, along with the caption: "50 days. #TheLionKing," as a clear countdown to the film's UK cinema release.

This is one of the first times we get to see Beyoncé's grown-up Nala, as she has been noticeably absent from most of Disney's Lion King trailers released up until now.

But Seth's Pumbaa, whose cartoon character is a much more realistic of what a warthog looks like in real life, has got people talking on Twitter.

Pumbaa and Timon the meerkat were one of the sweetest duos in the original movie, but fans aren't quite sure what the make of the re-imagined warthog.

"Bro just wondering why pumbaa looks like he's ready to kill me," exclaimed one person in response to the poster being shared to Twitter.

While somebody else joked: "I see this in my sleep paralysis."

However, a number of people were quick to defend Disney's representation of the warthog, pointing out that Pumbaa is now pretty much identical to how the animal actually looks in real life.

"Have u never seen a Warthog IRL [sic]," questioned one person.

While another echoed: "What the hell yall thought Pumbaa was supposed to look like? Piglet?"

The Lion King will be released in cinemas on Wednesday 19th July
