Dame Maggie Smith Has Been Confirmed For The Downton Abbey Film
Downton Abbey fans worldwide were left in the best mood ever earlier this week after finding out the long-awaited confirmation of a feature-length film had officially happened.
Oh, and that isn't even the best part. Apparently, ALL of the original cast will be taking part in the feature-length film. I can't even contain my excitement, I feel like I'm going to burst.
Dame Maggie Smith has been confirmed as one of the cast members returning for her popular role as the Dowager Countess, Violet Crawley.
The 83-year-old has previously dismissed the idea of a return, due to the 'increasing age of her character', however according to People magazine she WILL be returning alongside her fellow castmates.
Smith once said that she could only see her character on a big-screen if it was to film her funeral.
"I was firmly convinced it would start with the funeral... I could croak it and it would just start with the body. But I don't know, they talk about there being a film but who knows? You might tell me if you do know... I just think it's squeezing it dry, do you know what I mean?"
Shooting is reportedly due to start this summer. Hands up who's excited to return back to the Abbey?!
