Coronation Street's Malcolm Hebden Taking Extended Break From Cobbles
Coronation Street star Malcolm Hebden is taking a break from the cobbles.
The 78-year-old star, who plays Norris Cole, has been part of the soap since 1994. He recently made headlines when he was the victim of a cruel internet hoax.
The false reports appeared on an American website, which claimed he had passed away.
Concerned fans quickly turned to social media to find out if there was an truth in the sickening reports. One fan tweeted Malcolm's co-star, Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley in the soap, asking: "Not true about Malcolm Hebden is it?," to which Sally replied: "Thankfully not x."
Malcolm was taking some time off over Christmas, but extended his break. Bosses do not know when he will be back, and reports claim that there is 'no deadline'.
A ITV source told The Sun: "Malcolm is not getting any younger.
"He booked a bit of time off just before Christmas, but that annual leave has now become longer than first planned.
"Bosses do not know when he will be back.
"It's easy to cover a period of a few weeks without mentioning Norris on screen but any longer and fans start to question why a character is not there."
