Cook Eat Repeat: Everyone Is Losing Their Minds Over The Way Nigella Lawson Pronounces ‘Microwave’

Nigella Lawson's cooking show, Cook, Eat, Repeat returned for another episode on Monday, as she knocked up some more of her favourite dishes on screen, in the sensual and drool-worthy way that only she can quite achieve.

But it wasn't just the black pudding meatballs or the pasta with cavolo nero that got people talking after watching her BBC Two mini-series, it was the way she said 'microwave'.

Yep, while knocking up some brown butter colcannon (that's rich, buttery, veg filled mashed potatoes to most of us) Nigella, 60, talked fans through the recipe.

"I still need a bit of milk - full fat - which I've warmed in the [micro-wa-vay]," she said.

After hearing Nigella's take on the common household word, Twitter somewhat blew up.

One fan described the moment as "truly iconic," while another wrote: "The way @Nigella_Lawson
just pronounced 'microwave' is a defining moment of 2020. #CookEatRepeat".

"Henceforth, 'mecrowavay' shall forever be in my vocabulary and microwave will cease to exist Queen @Nigella_Lawson has spoken," another joked. "Thank you and goodnight..."

Nigella's show has been racking up quite a fan base in recent weeks.

It was also the topic of conversation on social media recently after a near five minute segment on how to butter toast - a TV moment which will also change our lives forever.

Nigella's toast-buttering technique is as follows: first, butter the toast when it's hot from the toaster.

Next, slather on a second layer of unsalted butter. Finally, sprinkle the twice-buttered toast with sea salt flakes.

"I favour the two-stage buttering approach and so far, only stage one has taken place," she explained on the show.

"That is to say, the moment this came out of the toaster and was lovely and hot, I spread it with butter, so the butter has melted down into it and it'll give it a fabulous, crumpety bite.

"Stage two now...I need a little more butter and it will stay in some golden patches on the surface.

"It is unsalted butter, which I always prefer to use, but what I need to do is sprinkle some sea-salt flakes over. This is the platonic ideal of toast."

Discussing the programme last night, another fan wrote: "I'm loving the new series of Nigella. Double buttered toast, double carbs, all the greatest condiments and the best pronunciation of microwave. Ever."
