*Game of Thrones episode 3 season 8 spoilers ahead*
Fans of Game of Thrones are still in recovery mode following Sunday night's episode, 'The Long Night'. The highly-anticipated third episode of the final series saw the armies at Winterfell take on the dead in one of the biggest on-screen battles ever recorded.
We sat through 82 minutes of of blood-curdling battle, some dragon-on-dragon scrapping and the deaths of key characters as the Night King's army appeared to ravage the living.
That was until our girl Arya came through and literally saved the entire human race with one stab of her Valerian steel dagger right into the Night King, obliterating him into a thousand tiny pieces along with his entire army and dragon.
YAAAS.
Now we know that GoT loves foreshadowing (just look at everything the Red Witch has ever said to people) and Arya's slaying was no different.
Show co-creator David Benioff explained that they knew Arya would be the one to deliver the final blow for a while. "I think it's probably three years now, we've known that it was going to be Arya who delivers that fatal blow," Benioff said.
"We hoped to kind of avoid the expected. Jon Snow has always been the hero, the one who's been the savior, but it just didn't seem right to us, for this moment."
In fact, there were clues all along that she would be the one to deliver the final blow.
Just look at the evidence...
Firstly, and perhaps most obvious, is that Arya tested the same sweet move on Brienne of Tarth way back in season seven, episode four. In it, Brienne grabs his arm, before she reaches for the dagger to deliver a would-be fatal blow. Impressed nods from Brienne all round. Remember this little duel?
But it was in season one that a young Arya was given some advice by older brother Jon Snow to "stick 'em with the pointy end", a phrase she repeated to Sansa during the battle when she said she didn't know how to use a dagger.
And like she snuck up on the Night King before killing him, Arya's been light-footed in the past too, sneaking up on Jon in the first episode. Sneaky, sneaky Arya.
There was also that time the all-knowing Melissandre did some foreshadowing of her own in season three episode six...
This one is just so damn clever. Remember that time Arya said "a girl is no one"? And no one can kill the Night King, right? Right?

Not to mention Bran gave Arya a dagger in an earlier season. It was all a bit ambiguous as to why at the time, but now we know. Mind blown.

Finally, Arya's ultimate purpose could be why so many sacrificed their life to save her... WE'RE NOT CRYING YOU ARE.
The purpose always been protect Arya Stark until this last moment; Ser Beric Dondarrion, Melisandre, the hound, Thoros of Myr, Theon Greyjoy even Syrio Forel.
