Channel 4 has shared the first image from the upcoming The Great British Bake Off and it's looks absolutely bun-derful.

In the official shot, presenter Noel Fielding, 46, channels the Mad Hatter in a red stripe suit and top hat alongside co-host Sandi Toksvig, 61, in a flower-filled field as they prepare to serve a tea.

Judges Prue Leith, 79, and Paul Hollywood, 53, meanwhile look ready to indulge in the cakes in front of them as they sit in velvet chairs around a candelabra-adorned table in the Alice In Wonderland-inspired shot.

Sharing the animated shot on Instagram, baker Paul captioned it: "Not long now to wait .... #gbbo". It is reported to return this month - although Channel 4 are yet to announce the official launch date.

The new series is no doubt a welcome distraction for Paul, who recently hit the headlines following his public split from Summer Monteys-Fullam, 24.

GBBO's latest shot comes two weeks after the first trailer for the upcoming series was released to much excitement.

TV addicts welcome the return of red velvet cakes, peculiar tray bakes and Noel's array of kooky shirts on Channel 4.

The much-loved show will see 12 new hopefuls being put through their baking paces with trying technical challenges and showstoppers, all the while vying for a Hollywood Handshake.

Although the first teaser of the upcoming series gave little away, it did get us in the mood for a sweet treat as a female reporter warned viewers: "There's chaos in the supermarket as baking fever sweeps the nation."

Aside from the shopping chaos, fans were treated to a picture of Paul depicted as a saint while cakes of the baker, fellow judge Prue, presenters Sandi and Noel dance around.

Currently, there is no confirmed date for the new series - but if it follows the pattern of earlier series it will likely hit screens around late August and usually runs for 10 weeks.

The series is normally filmed in the white tent over several weekends in spring and early summer, meaning the 2019 champion has already been crowned - fingers crossed Prue won't repeat her mistake and let slip who won again...
