Channel 4's New Series 'The Accident' Looks Totally Gripping

Channel 4's New Series 'The Accident' Looks Totally Gripping

A brand new four-part series called The Accident is coming to Channel 4 and frankly it looks so good, we're already counting down the days.

The show boasts a star-studded line-up including BAFTA winner Sarah Lancashire alongside Keeping Faith actor Mark Lewis Jones, and Westworld star Sidse Babett Kdusen.

The four-part show will be set in the fictional town of Glyngolau in Wales and follow the lives of a forgotten community, devastated by disaster.

The story details a community's response to an explosion that occurred on a construction site of a regeneration project, and which killed a number of children who had broken in.

The series, which touches on themes of grief, anger, blame and revenge, is set to be a heart-wrenching portrayal of relationships fraught with high tension and raw emotions.

Corrie star Sarah Lancashire will stand as Polly Bevan, the wife of local politician who championed the project and the person to whom much responsibility is attributed to.

Councillor Iwan Bevan, her husband, will be played by Mark Lewis Jones, a much respected figurehead for the community but whose passion for restoring the town back to its former glory days puts his reputation at risk.

Sidse Babett Knudsen will star as the contentious Harriet Paulsen. Acting as executive to the project that oversaw the explosion, she is forced to juggle her personal grief with the ruthlessness necessary for the preservation of the business.

Written by award-winning theatre, film and television screenwriter Jack Thorne, The Accident aims to unpick the concept of responsibility. Be it social, corporate or personal, the script's narrative looks at who is to blame for the accident and to whom most responsibility should be attributed to.

The show is directed by Sandra Goldbacher, previously known for Ordeal By Innocence, Anne With An E and The Hour; and produced by Killing Eve's (2) Morenike Williams.

With a glowing cast and script destined to provoke a series of emotional responses, it won't be one to miss.

The Accident will be shown on Channel 4, with four hour-long episodes. An air date is yet to be announced
