Blake Lively proves how much of a badass she is in the first trailer for highly-anticipated The Rhythm Section as she battles bad guys and escapes explosions in the action thriller.

In the high-octane flick, the 32-year-old, who is currently pregnant with her third child, plays Stephanie Patrick, a woman who goes on a rampage to avenge her family after they're killed in a plane bombing.

Having supposed to have been on the same flight that took the lives of her loved ones, Stephanie is suffering severely from survivor's guilt - and is on a mission to track down those responsible for the atrocity after learning the crash wasn't accidental.

On a mission for vengeance, Stephanie becomes an assassin - with the help of a disguise or two - and going by the first official trailer, she unleashes chaos in her bid for redemption.

At the helm of the film, which is set to hit cinemas on 21 February 2020, is Reed Morano, who also directed The Handmaid's Tale, while Barbara Broccoli (of Bond franchise fame) is producing - so you better believe we have high hopes for it.

Meanwhile, Jude Law, Sterling K. Brown and Max Casella join Blake Lively, who boasts an English twang for the film, on her quest for revenge.

The movie was initially set for release in February of 2019 before being pushed back twice to November and now 2020.

Production was temporarily paused in Dublin, Ireland while Blake recovered from a hand injury she suffered while performing a stunt in December.

The film is based on the best-selling book series of the same name by Mark Burnell - and boasts four books; The Rhythm Section, Chameleon, Gemini and The Third Woman, in total.
