A brand new trailer for the remake of Stephen King's Pet Sematary is here, and it looks terrifying...

If you've not read King's book, or seen the original 1989 film starring Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby and Blaze Berdahl, it centres around doctor Louis Creed.

Dr Louis, played by Jason Clarke in the remake, moves to Maine with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two kids. However, when they arrive he finds a creepy burial ground in the woods near to his home, you know, as they tend to do in horror films.

When he and his family are struck by a sudden tragedy, Dr Creed turns to his weird neighbour Jud Crandall played by John Lithgow, which sets in motion a horrifying chain of events.

The new film is directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, who have previously worked together on Starry Eyes, and has a screenplay by Jeff Buhler, who previously worked on the screenplay for the wonderfully titled slasher flick The Midnight Meat Train, which stared Vinnie Jones. So, as you can imagine, we're expecting big things.

Paramount Pictures

The movie is the latest Stephen King novel to get itself a brand-new adaption, following the huge success of It, and if the trailer is anything to go by Pet Sematary is set to follow that success.

Jeté Laurence also appears in the movie as Ellie Creed, while Hugo Lavoie and Lucas Lavoie play Gage Creed and Obssa Ahmed appears as Victor Pascow.

Paramount Pictures

Pet Sematary is set to hit cinemas in April 2019, so it looks like next year is shaping up to be a good one for horror fans.

If you're anything like us and are skeptical of a remake, then Pet Sematary could just be the one that changes our mind, if that trailer has got anything to go by.
