From Don't Tell the Bride to Married At First Sight, we all love to watch people's nuptials play out on TV.

And new Channel 5 docuseries, My Crazy Rich Asian Wedding (a play on the hit film and book of the same name), will look at the glamorous world of extravagant weddings over three episodes.

Channel 5

The first episode, set in Singapore, sees beauty heiress, Rachel, and her financial analyst fiancé, Ken, planning an underwater-themed wedding.

Rachel is obsessed with mermaids and plans to emerge from a giant clamshell costing £3,000 to greet her 600 guests, but panics that she's going to get stuck or mess it up.

The wedding reception also had a huge walk through aquarium, fishy-themed props, and even King Neptune making a guest appearance.

The documentary follows Rachel and Ken as they prepare for their dream wedding, seeing a fairytale mermaid hen party, diamond shopping in London, and a wedding dress embellished with 6,000 crystals.

Ken and Rachel's incredible fairytale wedding also includes more traditional elements like the Gate Crashing Ceremony and a Chinese Tea Ceremony, before the guests and couple head to a lavish aquatic party at a five-star hotel with a further 400 guests.

There are even human-sized fishtanks, five outfit changes, and some pretty expensive cars, too.

Speaking to the camera crew, the couple said: "We didn't come across anyone who had done this themed wedding in Singapore before."

Rachel added: "I've always wanted to be a mermaid so why not on my wedding day?" Fair enough: if you can't be a princess on your big day, when can you?

Channel 5

The rest of the series airs on Sundays on Channel 5, and will feature an epic Hollywood style party with 3000 guests, among other themes.

The weddings are all stunning and eye-wateringly expensive and viewers get to find out how they all come to fruition.
