Bongo's Bingo Is The Ultimate Night Out For All The Squad
Talking completely about myself here but, when you get to a certain age, you just don't want to spend hours waiting around in queues to get into a club where you're going to be squished like a sardine, and only get a drink once every three hours from an absolutely heaving bar.
It's just tedious, and soul-destroying. Now, all I want is a constant, never-ending stream of drinks and to be able to hold a conversation with my friends. Maybe even pop on down to Gala Bingo every now and again and try my hand at winning enough money to fund my next 'extravagant' weekend out.
Basically, as I've aged I've developed an extremely competitive streak, and I'd much rather be having a pint while kicking someone's ass at a game of pool, or playing something that requires attention than trying to avoid getting chatted up by some young, excitable fresher.
So when my friend told me about Bongo's Bingo, I'm not going to lie, I was a little bit apprehensive. Raving and Bingo? But how would I ever hear the numbers over the speaker. Someone also told me that the prizes range from garden gnomes to double-ended dildos, and I'm not going to lie - my interest definitely peaked. I mean, I like dancing, you sit on stools, you can drink and you also get the chance to dance. It's like the perfect mix of a night out, right?
When you arrive at the venue (we went to the Manchester Albert Hall night), you get given pens and a bingo book that actually has quite a lot of rounds. The drinks didn't take too long to get, and we were all sat cosy in our chairs ready for the excitement to begin, and boy did it begin.
At bang on 8pm, the DJ, who absolutely MADE the night with his incredibly quick-witted comebacks. I'm not going to spoil too much for you here, because you need to find out for yourselves - but they make a hilariously big deal if you call out line or house too soon. Let's just say, you don't want to be THAT guy.

At any point during a game of bingo (yes, actual bingo), the DJ breaks out the room into a 'rave round' which correlate to the numbers. For example, anytime 33 graced the giant on-stage screens, the room erupted into an Irish jig of massive proportions. The DJ even kindly reminded us that it wasn't that long left until Christmas with a beautiful rendition of 'Fairytale of New York', which was actually happily welcomed by the crowd.
Bingo prizes involved a giant life-sized cut-out of Phillip Schofield (our entire PRETTY team pined over that particular one), a plethora of alcoholic beverages, coco pops (which then proceeded to get thrown all over us), an actual mobility scooter and Disney princess dolls. I'm not going to spoil the rest of the prizes for you - but just know that you'd be happy to win ANY of them - especially after a few jugs of lager.

I can genuinely say I had an absolutely incredible night, and it even re-ignited my love for the club a little bit more than it had before. Maybe I'm not quite as ready for my Zimmer-frame as I thought I was, because I have already started thinking about the next time I can get myself and my group of friends down to rave with Sl*tty Susie(that's one of the on-stage dancers) and the gang at Bongo's Bingo.
If you're interested in going, they play ALL over the UK at various locations, and you can find out whether or not it's in your local area in the next few months. Also, if you're heading over to the White Isles in Summer, Bongo's Bingo is hosting an Ibiza residency with So Solid Crew every Tuesday at Eden.
