David Walliams has been forced to deny stealing a dog, after the comedian looked rather similar to the main suspect in a case.
Welsh authorities are currently on the hunt for three potential dog thieves who tried to steal a pet pooch from its owner. The owner fought hard, even covering one of the dognappers in his dog's own mess.
The Britain's Got Talent judge, 49, couldn't help but poke fun at an E-Fit made up by Welsh Police as they pursued a dognapper, which bore an uncanny resemblance to the star.
Reassuring fans he hadn't swapped the showbiz circuit for a life of crime, David wrote on Twitter: "Is that me on the left? I think I would remember stealing a dog!"

While David could see the funny side at looking a lot like a dognapper, the crime in question is serious.
Police say a 30-year-old dog-owner was threatened at knife point as the men attempted to steal his Labrador. He suffered face and head injuries in the incident, which happened on February 25th.
Speaking about the incident Detective Constable Kirsty Matthews explained: "The victim was extremely brave and it is fortunate that he was not more seriously hurt as he did everything he could to stop the men from taking his dog.

"We appreciate this incident caused a lot of concern locally, on social media and will no doubt worry all dog owners.
"This is an isolated incident and extensive enquiries are being carried out to identify and arrest those responsible."
David is a keen dog lover himself, owning two border terriers called Bert and Ernie.

And this is not the first time that a celebrity has had an uncanny likeness to a criminal.
Last year, David Schwimmer caused hysterics when a video of a man stealing booze in Blackpool saw the suspect look an awful lot like the Friends star.
David got in on the joke, posting his own recreation of the video on Twitter.
"Officers, I swear it wasn't me,' he joked. 'As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation."
