Adorable Blind Dog Gets His Own Little Companion

Adorable Blind Dog Gets His Own Little Companion

Being a blind dog must be pretty terrifying, but luckily, Amos the blind Staffy cross has a friend to help him to navigate the world.

Amos was rescued in August of last year by his owner, Jess Martin, 27, from the rescue centre she was working at alongside her job in PR for the Cheshire Fire and Rescue service.

Amos's guide dog is Toby, a nine-year-old Border Terrier. Toby was wary of Amos at first, but now the adorable pooch helps Amos to navigate the world and find his water bowl. Despite his size, Toby reportedly has even defended Amos from mean dogs.

The adorable blind pooch has his own guide dog, who helps him navigate and has become his best friend.

Jess has had Toby for nine years, but adopted Amos last year when he was born at the dogs' home.

He was born blind, which meant it was tricky to find him another home.

She said that Toby was initially a little standoffish with his new best pal. "At the beginning Toby growled at him a few times and then ignored him - Amos came from a kennel so doesn't know how to socialise with other dogs," she says.

But the pair quickly warmed to one another, with Jess saying that she saw Amos struggling to find his water bowl and that "Toby nudged him and helped him out".

When Amos needed to have his eye removed, Toby didn't leave his side and was very protective of him.

Jess and her partner go on many backpacking adventures with the two dogs and they say that Amos nudges Toby every time he needs some help when they're out and about.

She added: "When we went out on walks Amos was very scared, especially of the noises and Toby quickly picked up that he needed help - so every time Amos was stopping, Toby would go and lie next to him till he would be ready."

Heartbreakingly, Amos doesn't have any other friends because he doesn't know how to communicate with other dogs, but Toby is always there to protect him. Jess calls Toby Amos' "bodyguard".
