Love Island's Wes Nelson has admitted that he has to book in three-hour slots with his girlfriend Megan Barton-Hanson so that they can spend quality time with one another.

The reality star spoke honestly of his relationship with Megan, admitting that their romance is like a 'military operation' due to their hectic post-villa work schedules.

"It's been nuts. It's been chaos. It's been so hard since leaving the villa with travelling and everything to make time to see loved ones," the former nuclear systems design engineer told The Sun.

"That's been the main thing which has changed for us - we have no time."

Wes explained that organisation was key to ensure he sees his girlfriend, and, in the words of a former engineer, he added that their system has become like a 'well-oiled machine'

He continued: "I don't see Megan any less than I would a normal girlfriend, but I just have to book her in three hours here and there like a military operation.

"It can be stressful, but it's now a well-oiled machine."

While some of their former co-stars' romances have 'crumbled' outside of the villa, Wes explained that things are only getting better between him and Meg, although they are not smug about it.

"Obviously it's not nice to see, but it's in complete contrast to what we're experiencing. So I'm grateful," explained Wes.

Paul Knops and Laura Anderson split last week, and Laura Crane and Jack Fowler went their separate ways just days later, again saying their schedules had put strain on their relationship.

Samira Mighty and Frankie Foster broke-up sooner than fans would have hoped to too, amid allegations of cheating.

Megan has previously opened up on her relationship struggles, admitting that she 'barely ever' sees Wes.

Earlier this month, the Love Island told The Mirror: "You have struggles because you're barely together and then when we are it's two hours here, three hours there and then he's running away to do a PA.

"So it's difficult but I think we're very honest with each other. When we feel like we need to spend more time with each other we'll do it."

Megan also echoed her boyfriend's words, adding that things between her and Wes are only going from 'strength to strength'.
