In today's bizarre Meghan Markle-related news, it seems the royal family newbie will have to endure being weighed by the Queen after enjoying a traditional Christmas lunch.
According to royal expert Ingrid Seward in the latest issue of Grazia, the yearly tradition involves each member of the royal family being weighed on a pair of antique scales before and after their turkey meal to make sure they've been "well fed".
Each member of the family, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, must follow the tradition and step onto the scales at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk before and after tucking into lunch to ensure they've had their fill of turkey.
The tradition dates back to the early 1900s, when King Edward VIII was the reigning monarch.

The King was apparently concerned about his guests eating enough on Christmas, which sparked the bizarre weighing tradition.
It's not just official royals that will have to endure being weighed. The Queen, in a royal first, has reportedly invited Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, to spend Christmas with the family.
Kate Middleton's family have reportedly never been invited to stay with the royals for Christmas before.
A source told the Daily Express: "It's a mark of the Queen's respect for Meghan and an acknowledgement that she doesn't have any other relations in this country - unlike Kate who has the support of a very close family."

The honour means Doria will, too, have to step onto the scales before enjoying a suitably lavish royal lunch.
The weigh-in isn't the only strange tradition the royals indulge in on Christmas Day.
The royals apparently enter the dining room in order of seniority, and everyone but the Queen will then don paper hats.

A head chef then apparently carves the turkey, and after lunch, the family then go for a leisurely walk around the grounds of the estate in order to make some room for yet another meal: afternoon tea with a huge iced cake.
The evening is spent enjoying a candlelit dinner in the dining room.
So, basically, lots of eating, family time and paper hats. Apart from the somewhat strange weigh-in, it sounds like a dreamy Christmas.
