Kim Kardashian was mocked when she first revealed she was studying to become a lawyer, but the KUWTK star has been helping free inmates on the down low for the last three months.

In fact, the entrepreneur and her legal team have helped 17 inmates, who were all serving life sentences for low level drug offences, gain freedom in recent months, TMZ reports.

Kim has been working on the 90 Days of Freedom campaign launched by her lawyer, Brittany K Barnett, in partnership with lawyer MiAngel Cody of The Decarceration Collective.

The campaign uses the First Step Act, which was signed by President Trump last year, to retrospectively apply the Fair Sentencing Act, and reduce sentences now deemed to be excessive.

Kim is said to be funding the campaign while Barnett, who also co-founded the Buried Alive advocacy group, and Cody, deal with the legalities.

Previously, we've heard how Kim supported Alice Marie Johnson in Alabama, Jeffrey Stringer in Florida and Cyntoia Brown in Tennessee, but now that list is far longer, TMZ reports.

One of which is Jamelle Carraway, who is back with his family after serving 11 years of a life sentence in a federal prison. He was arrested for cocaine possession at the age of 31 and is now living and working in Illinois as he transitions back into society.

Another is Eric Balcome, who was convicted of a drug charge and sentenced to life without parole at the age of 29. Now, he's back with his mum for the first time after serving 16 years in federal prison.

Terrence Byrd is also among those to be freed after spending 25 years behind bars on drug possession charges. He's said to be reunited with his 96-year-old grandmother, who raised him.

But that's not all as Kim, Brittany and MiAngel have got several more cases on the go.
