Kate WrightKate Wright paid tribute to the late Rebecca Ellison, the mum of her step-children, in a touching Mother's Day post.

The former TOWIE star is step-mum to Rio Ferdinand's three children, Lorenz, 12, Tate, 10, and Tia, seven.

Kate honoured Rebecca, who died from breast cancer in 2015, on a Mother's Day card which featured herself and Rebecca, alongside the children's grandparents.

"Lovely Mother's Day dinner with family, we celebrated all 6 of us today," she wrote.

"How lucky we all are to have hearts that can love after so much pain. Happy Mother's Day to everyone."

Kate, who has spoken candidly about never wanting to replace Rebecca as the children's mum, wanted to include her in the celebrations to help them through what is undoubtably a very difficult day for them.

Earlier in the day, Rio publicly thanked his wife-to-be Kate, for keeping the memory of his late wife alive on Mother's Day.

The professional footballer uploaded a photo of Kate walking along a deck on holiday while holding hands with his youngest child, Tia.

He wrote: "Thank you for all you do for the little munchkins. From keeping their mum's memory alive, to constantly putting smiles on their faces. Love u."

In 2017, Kate decided to quit TOWIE in order to focus on being a step-mum, without putting the children in the spotlight.

Speaking of her decision later down the line, Kate said: "When I did that everyone thought I was crazy. My mum was thinking, 'Oh my God!'

"I felt like I had two choices. I was in this world that had a lot of drama, it was very public.

"They had lost their mum, they don't need a woman who is going to be out everywhere. They need someone who's going to be home with them to give them love."
