Jason Momoa Just Shaved His Beard Off For The First Time In 7 Years

It's all in the name of a good cause, too...

Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa has long time been known for his long hair and impressive beard, but the actor now looks very different after shaving his iconic beard off for the first time since 2012.

Momoa released a short video while on set for his new film Dune, in which he encourages the use of recyclable aluminum cans for water instead of plastic water bottles.

"Goodbye Drogo. Bye Arthury Curry," he says in the clip. ""I just want to do this to bring awareness that plastics are killing our planet," as he begins shaving his face.

"I'm shaving this beast off, it's time to make a change," he wrote on Instagram as he shared the video. "A change for the better ... for my kids, your kids, the world. Let's make a positive change for the health of our planet. Let's clean up our oceans, our land. Join me on this journey. Let's make the switch to infinitely recyclable aluminum."

The video shows Jason walking through rubbish-filled rocks, presumably in Jordan where he's filming the Dune remake. For his role as Duncan Idaho, it's likely that Jason needs to be clean-shaven, hence the big change. Otherwise, we don't think producers will be too impressed with his sudden desire for a smooth face.

While we wait for Dune's release it seems like we'll just have to keep watching the video over and over until we can quite get to grips with the actor's hairless face.

However, we could be waiting a while as the movie, directed by Denis Villeneuve, is expected to be split into two - with the first set for release on 20th November 2020.

Moamo stars alonside Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac and Josh Brolin in the sci-fi hit, so we're expecting some pretty big things.
