Did Prince George Inspire Harry And Meghan To Name Their Baby Archie?

In a major coincidence, Prince George appeared to tease us with the name of his new baby cousin earlier this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to the world yesterday at a photocall at Windsor Castle, before revealing his name on social media a few hours later.

But it seems like Prince George could have inspired part of the newborn's name months ago after bumping into a member of the public while on a country dog walk with his sister, Princess Charlotte, and his grandma, Carole Middleton in Berkshire.

While out on this walk, Prince William and Kate Middleton's son went over to pet a dog belonging to a woman also walking nearby, and the pair exchanged a few words.

Despite knowing who the little royal was, the unnamed woman asked him his name anyway. "To my astonishment he said 'I'm called Archie' with a big smile on his face," she told The Sun at the time. "I don't know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it's lovely."

This happened back in January before his cousin was born earlier this week.

While Prince George could have known Master Archie Harrison's name all along, it seems more likely that this is just a complete coincidence.

It's also unclear whether Prince George also goes by the name Archie, or if he just made it up on the spot.

Of course, he could have heard his Aunt Meghan and Uncle Harry discussing the moniker, which could be where he picked up the name.

The name Archie originates from Germany, and in Scotland, it is a short form of Archibold, which means true, bold and brave.

Archie's middle name Harrison actually means Henry's son, so it's totally fitting.

The new royal takes his surname, Mountbatten-Windsor, from his great-grandfather, Prince Philip, who wasn't able to give the surname to his children.

And if you're wondering why Archie doesn't have a royal title, this should explain it more.
