Davina McCall always seems so upbeat. That's why when she shared the tragic story about the toll cancer has taken on her family this Tuesday she brought viewers of The Great Celebrity Bake Off to tears.

The former Big Brother and Streetmate presenter made a tear-jerking cameo during Channel 4's fundraising special for Stand Up to Cancer and spoke about losing her half-sister Caroline to the disease in 2012.

Davina fought back tears as she talked viewers through the heartbreaking moment she discovered Caroline had been diagnosed with cancer right up to the final moments she spent with her sister.

She said as she fought to hold back the tears: "The fact that I was there with her, I hope meant a lot to her because it meant so much to me. How do I move on? I do move on, life goes on.

"She lives on with my children. We celebrate with my children. We celebrate her birthday. We try to forget the day she died. What I miss the most now about Caroline is just talking. I miss talking."

The emotional segment struck a chord with viewers of Bake Off who tweeted their support.

Davina has been a huge advocate for the Stand Up to Cancer cause since her sister's death and has hosted parts of SU2C Channel 4's fundraising night and taken part in charity appeals and skits.

This year's fundraising efforts on Channel 4 have so far included a new series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off and this weekend's Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins for Stand Up to Cancer. And there's more fun and fundraising to come.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off is on Channel 4 and All 4. To donate and find out more about Stand Up to Cancer click here or text THIRTY, TWENTY or TEN to 70404 to donate £30, £20 or £10.
