Bridgerton season 2 has officially started filming and Netflix has already confirmed seasons 3 and season 4... and possibly 5,6,7 and 8 (it's starting to sound like a Steps song).

In line with Julia Quinn's bestselling Bridgerton novels, season 2 will turn our attention to Daphne's brother Anthony, who swore off love after Sienna Rosso broke his heart in the first series.

The Ton's most eligible rake is now set on marrying for duty, without any of the complicated lovey-dovey stuff getting in the way. That is, until he meets his sensible love interest's younger sister, Kate.

So, dear readers, what has Lady Whistledown got in store for season 3, you ask?

Here's everything we know so far.

What will season 3 of Bridgerton be about?

The third of Quinn's books Bridgerton: An Offer from a Gentleman focuses on Benedict Bridgerton's story - and there's something very Cinderella about it.

If Netflix continues to produce the series in the same order as the books, Daphne's handsome middle brother will be Lady Whisteldown's new person of interest.

The synopsis of the book reads:

"This year's most sought-after invitation must surely be that of the Bridgerton masquerade ball, to be held Monday next. Will some fortunate young lady use the mystery of a masquerade night to snare one of the eligible bachelors? - Lady Whistledown's Society Papers, May 1815.

"Sophie Beckett never dreamt she would sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball - or that 'Prince Charming' would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie had been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But that night, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she felt like royalty. Yet she knows all enchantments must end.

"But Sophie has reckoned without Benedict's determined heart: he has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, for he knows this is his only chance for a fairy tale love . . ."

Bridgerton season 3 release date

No release date has been confirmed yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we have an update from Whistledown. With filming for season 2 starting in May 2021 and a predicted release of early 2022, it's likely season 3 of Bridgerton won't be released until later 2022 or early 2023.

If Netflix follows the order of Quinn's book series and the story does turn to Benedict's quest for love, we can expect to see all of the Bridgertons returning in season 3, with Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, the star of season 3.

Ruth Gemmel plays Violet, the widowed Viscountess and mother of eight:

  • Jonathan Bailey as Anthony, the oldest Bridgerton sibling
  • Luke Thompson as Benedict
  • Luke Newton as Colin
  • Phoebe Dyvenor as Daphne
  • Claudia Jesse as Eloise
  • Ruby Stokes as Francesca
  • Will Tilston as the young Master Gregory
  • Florence Hunt as Hyacinth

Of course, Lady Whisteldown, who is voiced by Julie Andrews, will be making a return - otherwise is it even Bridgerton?

All being well with Anthony's marriage in season 2, we could also see the return of Kate (Simone Ashley), Edwina's younger sister who Anthony falls in love with and Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran). Shelley Conn, who plays Kate and Edwina's mother, Mary Sharma, could also be making another appearance.

We'll let you know as soon as our Sophie Beckett is confirmed.

Whatever the producers have in store for us next, those who have read the Bridgerton books promise the following seasons will be even steamier than the first.
