Love Island's Davide Sanclimenti issues statement after split from Ekin-Su

Love Island's Davide Sanclimenti issues statement after split from Ekin-Su

The pair won the hearts of viewers when they met in the villa in 2022

They might have been the villa's sweethearts last year, but now 2022 Love Island winners Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu have officially called it quits.

The pair won the hearts of viewers as their romance blossomed during their time on the reality TV show, so much so that they managed to beat Gemma Owen and Luca Bish to be crowned the winners in the final.

Unlike many Islanders, Davide and Ekin-Su managed to keep their relationship going once they returned to the real world, with fans delighted to see snaps of them on dates, holidays and even magazine covers.

Ekin-Su has been noticeably absent from Davide's Instagram feed for a few weeks now, though just a couple of days ago the pair were pictured together at the movie premiere of Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny.

Ekin-Su shared a picture of herself and Davide at the event, writing: "Indiana Jones premier with my man."

It seems there's been a sudden change of heart, though, and it's become clear that the pair weren't meant to be together forever.

Late last night, Davide took to his Instagram Story to confirm he and Ekin-Su have gone their separate ways.

"Ekin Su and I are no longer together," he began.

Davide announced the split on Instagram.

"I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best. I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time, I will continue to support Ekin in anyway possible."

The former Islanders had moved in together in London after their Love Island win, and Ekin-Su just recently described to Cosmopolitan UK how they were 'more affectionate' behind closed doors.

"It's good to have a relationship in private and if we keep showing things, it looks fake," she said.

Earlier this month, Davide also admitted that the pressure of being in the public eye has had its impact on their relationship.

He told The Sun: "Me and Ekin-Suhad our struggles due to our public positions and we still have them sometimes.

"If there's something that I would change or would have done differently [with Ekin-Su in the villa] maybe I would have taken things a bit more slowly."

Ekin-Su hasn't yet shared a statement of her own on the split, but she seems to have been enjoying herself in recent days with a trip away and a family get-together with her mum and auntie.

Tyla has contacted representatives for Ekin-Su for comment.
