Laura Anderson is ‘grieving the life’ she thought she’d have as she prepares to welcome first child

The former Love Island star is expecting her first child in August with former partner Gary Lucy

While being a parent is never easy, Laura Anderson has spoken about the realities of becoming a single mum.

The TV personality is expecting her first child in August, with former partner Gary Lucy.

After the pair split earlier this year, the 34-year-old confessed that she is 'grieving the life' she’d thought she’d have.

Back in 2018, Laura made her small screen appearance on series four of Love Island, with the unlucky-in-love air steward finishing second with model Paul Knops.

Sadly, the romance didn’t last long, with the reality TV star later beginning a romance with Hollyoaks actor, Gary Lucy.

News of their relationship came after they filmed E4’s Celebs Go Dating together last year and the couple announced they were expecting a baby together in February.

Though fans had thought this would be her happy-ever-after, Gary confirmed they had split just hours after the pregnancy announcement.

It had been thought that the distance had divided the couple, with the soap star based in Essex and Laura still in Scotland.

However in her latest column for Ok! Magazine, she revealed that the break up was ‘hard to explain’.

Laura also shared her fears about becoming a single mum, admitting that the responsibility is ‘scary’.

In the article, she told readers she was 'grieving the life' she’d thought she’d have as she prepares to give birth.

Laura is expected to give birth in August.

The mum-to-be wrote: "I've been putting a lot of things, such as a baby shower, off, because I feel like I'm sort of grieving the life I thought I'd have, being pregnant.

"It's a grievance what I thought my life was going to be like, at this point, and how I thought my first pregnancy was going to be - settled down with my partner and raising a baby together.”

She then confessed that she was still processing the split, saying that she ‘realised’ her life ‘isn't going to be like that’ and that she was doing it for herself.

Laura continued: "Raising my baby predominantly by myself is scaring me - I'm worried I will do something wrong.

"Being responsible for someone else is quite a big thing.

“I am going to be with her most of the time - obviously her dad [Gary] will be involved - but there's just a lot of decisions to make throughout her life, it's scary to think the choices I make will have an impact on her whole life."

While Laura might be nervous right now, we think she’ll make a wonderful mum.
