Kim Kardashian admits Kanye West may have been ‘right’ about daughter North’s TikTok

Kim Kardashian admits Kanye West may have been ‘right’ about daughter North’s TikTok

The mum-of-four is reflecting on her decision to allow North to have a joint TikTok account.

Kim Kardashian has admitted her ex-husband Kanye West may have been ‘right’ about daughter North’s TikTok in one instance.

Kanye famously isn't a fan of his daughter using TikTok. In an Instagram post shared in February last year, the 'Fade' rapper said: "SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL ?”

Kim followed-up Kanye's post with a statement defending her decision. "Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create,” she declared.

“I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision – because it brings her happiness."

The 10-year-old shares a joint account with her mum, 42, and the pair have racked up over 16 million followers.

The videos shared on the account are mostly filmed by North and despite some criticism from the public, Kim has defended her decision to allow her daughter to express herself on social media.

North ‘loves making slime videos and doing her little hair tutorials, and I will fight for her to be creative,’ Kim explained in an interview with Time published this week.

Kim admitted in the interview that a lot of ‘trial and error’ goes into figuring out how her children interact with social media, which isn’t unusual especially for non-famous mums.

A recent example of this conundrum came in connection with a Skims collab Kim did with rapper Ice Spice.

North seems to be a big fan of the ‘In Ha Mood’ rapper, so much so she filmed a video in which she drew a spectacular portrait of the musician and later dressed up as her and lip synched the explicit lyrics her hit song ‘Boy’s a liar, Pt. 2’.

However, Kim didn’t realise the lyrics were very cheeky but as soon as she did, the video was taken down.

"Every day, the kids get to switch of whose music they want to plug in and listen to on the way to school and North was listening to Ice Spice," The Skims founder explained in the interview.

“I didn't know who that was at the time. And I was like, this is the moment when I feel really old and my daughter is now teaching me what's cool.”

Kim decided to ask Ice Spice to join her in a Skims campaign, all thanks to North.

“I think it's always tough when you're co-parenting and someone wants something and someone doesn’t,” Kim reflected.

"The Ice Spice videos, she said, 'Mommy, can I post this?'" Kim explained, noting that she was ‘out of town’ and her Nanny allowed the TikToks to be uploaded.

"As soon as I saw the words and everything, I was like, 'Oh, no no. We're taking this down.' She totally understood. So, I think that's the trial and error sometimes," Kim said.

"I saw on the internet, [people saying] ‘Kanye was right,’ and maybe he was in that instance."

Although the video mentioned above was taken down, there are still other videos of Ice Spice on North and Kim's joint account, including a duet video with Ice Spice's account where the 23-year-old raps 'In Ha Mood' with North.

The lyrics include: "Bae, I'm not stayin', I just wanna play / In the party, he just wanna rump / Big boobs and the butt stay plump."
