Brenda Edwards Breaks Down As She Discusses Grief In New Interview

Brenda has opened up about her son's passing.

Brenda Edwards held back tears while discussing her experience with grief following the recent passing of her son Jamal earlier this year.

The Loose Women panellist spoke about Jamal's legacy on BBC Radio 1Xtra this week, three months after his unexpected death.

Jamal was best known for his platform SBTV - which helped to launch some of the most successful careers in music, including Dave and Ed Sheeran. He died suddenly on 20th February of a suspected heart attack aged 31.

Asked how she had been coping since her son's death, Brenda said that she was taking "each hour as it comes," admitting that there had been both good and bad days.

"Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of grief in my life and I kind of now just, I just deal with it," she revealed, before taking a moment to hold back her tears.

After apologising for the emotional moment, she went on to discuss her son's legacy and the giant impact he had on the music industry before his passing.

"He will be missed hugely – greatly – by the music industry," she said.

"But I think he will have taught a lot of people a lot of things to continue in their way in the same way that he did."

Brenda also assured his fans that SBTV would not be going anywhere, and planned on "coming back strong" in the near future.

At just age 24, Jamal was awarded an MBE for his contribution to the music industry, and just recently became the first person to posthumously win a Music Industry Trusts (Mits) award.

Shortly after the devastating news of Jamal's passing broke, Brenda confirmed that she had been by his side when it happened.

In an interview with her fellow Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan, she shared: "It was sudden and it was unexpected and he went into a cardiac arrest and he passed with me holding his hand.

"I get a little bit of comfort knowing I was there."
