When the ‘Wrinkle Brigade’ targeted Christie Brinkley recently, she decided to hit back at the rude comments and her iconic response is something that all women need to hear.
Former supermodel Christie Brinkley, 69, recently shared a beautiful selfie of herself enjoying a day in New York on Instagram.
While many would consider this an innocent picture to capture a moment of zen, not everyone was there to support her endeavours.
Instead, Brinkley - an American model who is best known for her appearances in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues for three consecutive years - was bombarded with cruel comments about her appearance.

But being the icon she is, Brinkley wasn't having any of it and decided to hit out at the trolls.
“Whoa Nelly!” she began in a caption on a post the next day which had been updated from the original which read, ‘Downton Girl’.
She continued: “The Wrinkle Brigade is out in full force in the comment thread! They are the people that scan celebrities pages, hoping to find some cellulite, wrinkles, or anything that they can point to to critique.
"It must be some form of compensation for something they are lacking.”

Although the negative comments were addressed, the blonde bombshell wanted to make sure that those who continue to support her were also mentioned.
She wrote: “But when those people appear, there are others who pop up with messages so kind and valuable. Those are the comments that restore my faith and make my heart sing! Thank you sweet souls.”
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has had to call out the haters online about making comments on their aging as a couple of months ago, American actor Justine Bateman addressed people’s obsession with her aging face.

Bateman, who is best known for her roles in Family Ties, Men Behaving Badly and Desperate Housewives, was shocked to find out that she had been branded as ‘old’ when googling herself.
Appearing on 60 Minutes Australia, she described how she found out about what people online were saying about her face.
Bateman said: “I needed to google something to do a little research and remind myself of something that happened when I was famous, so I put in my name, googled my name, Justine Bateman, and then the autocomplete came up which was 'looks old'."
At only 42-years-old at the time of the event, she described that the revelation left her feeling ‘sad’ that commenters were distracted by her looks instead of focusing on their own lives.

Though, taking it on the chin, the actress really couldn’t give a care in the world about what others think about how she looks. In fact, she doesn’t 'give a s**t'.
“I think I look rad,” she explained. “I think my face represents who I am. I like it.”
Thankfully, Brinkley also has a similar outlook.
In a previous interview with PEOPLE about ageing, she described how she thinks positively.

"It all has to do with your spirit and the energy that you deliver and bring into the room with you. That's what is going to define you."
"Forget anti-aging this and all of that. It's really about gratitude."
