A series of images of a seal pup making a new home on top of one woman's garden plant pots have emerged, and they are ultra adorable.

The small pup had lost its way after crossing a busy road, and had decided to hide away in the corner of the woman's garden at her home in Northumberland on Tuesday, said local police.

According to reports, the inquisitive baby seal had managed to come all the way from the sea, across the beach, up through a car park and across the 30mph road before making it to the garden.

The shocked woman quickly called police to help return the cute pup back to the water after noticing it.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue and the RSPCA were called out by authorities to the home to help rescue the little seal.

"When the sergeant asks you to go to a job like this you tend to think he's pulling your leg," said Paul Moorhead, a community support officer for Northumbria Police.

The seal had managed to cross a busy road.

He continued: "So when we turned up at the property it was a bit of a shock for us to find the seal pup lounging on some plant pots and having a bit of a sun bath.

"I'll be honest, we didn't really know what to do with it and I was half thinking of putting it in the back of my patrol car."

The woman called authorities to help.

After being replenished with plenty of fluids, the seal was returned to a safe spot closer to the sea.

And you will be happy to hear that the seal pup was reunited with its family who were swimming nearby.

The marine mammal was returned to the ocean.

"It was a happy ending all round and the seal pup was able to return to the rest of his family who were swimming nearby," added the community support officer.
